The Dover School District is pleased to announce the selection of Josh Daniels as Superintendent of Schools to replace Jerry Owens who will be retiring at the end of this school year. At a regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on Thursday night the Board voted unanimously to hire Mr. Daniels for the 2017 and 2018 school years. The news was received with an excited round of applause from those in attendance.
Mr. Daniels has been with the Dover School District for 6 years. He started as Assistant Principal of Dover Elementary in 2010. After 3 years as Assistant Principal, he took the helm and has been Principal for the past 3 years. Mr. Daniels grew up in Jasper, AR and is a 2004 graduate of Arkansas Tech University eventually completing his Master’s Degree in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership in 2008, followed by an Educational Leadership program of study.
Mr. Daniels is married and has 3 children. His wife Amber is a teacher at Pottsville Elementary and on weekends they enjoy hiking, swimming, just being outdoors and all things Razorback! He enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing sports.
Jerry Owens, current Superintendent of Schools had this to say about the selection of Mr. Daniels: “The District could not have made a better selection. Mr. Daniels has the qualities needed to be a Superintendent including family values, leadership, a strong knowledge of curriculum, and a love for children. I look forward to working with Mr. Daniels the rest of this year to ensure a smooth transition.
